Linkserve's Blast Broadband Excites Nigeria's Internet Market.

Released on 16 May 2010

Linkserve Limited, Nigeria’s pioneering Internet Service Provider, has announced that its new product, Blast Broadband, is a huge success. This statement was made to media correspondents by the company’s founding chairman, Mr. Chima Onyekwere OON at the company’s Adeola Odeku corporate headquarters on Thursday May 20, 2010.

Blast is especially designed to meet the connection needs of homes, small and medium sized businesses. It is an integration of the widely-used terrestrial wireless industry technology with the latest in advanced and proven satellite technology. Blast is based on Viasat’s Surfbeam Broadband System and is a completely new satellite-based system.

Mr. Onyekwere said that ever since Blast hit the market in the last week of March 2010, demand for the product has been on the increase. He said; ‘We started with a promo and offered the first 150 subscribers the equipment at a giveaway price. We did this just to excite the market and I must confess that we were all astonished at consumer response - every single one of the allotted units was sold within the week. This has encouraged us to announce another such promo to allow even more people the chance to enjoy this amazing product.’

Linkserve’s Chairman went on to say that Blast is the Internet experience Nigerians have been looking forward to. He said; ‘We came into this market more than fourteen years ago with only one dream; to create a borderless society. That was then. Today, we’re doing that and more. Today, Linkserve is an institution that is, and will remain, a point of reference for the development of our society. And by development, I mean total, unfettered access to every tool, all information and every known resource of development known and available to man.’

Blast is a product that has gone one step further in providing excellent Internet service to Nigerians. Firstly, each offering is especially tailored for the use of each client. That means no one service is like the other. Each package is Pay-As-You-Use with no hidden charges. Whatever the needs of the user, he gets exactly what he pays for. For instance, if an individual engages Blast for his viewing centre business during this world cup period in order to stream football matches live, it naturally follows that the business will require optimum download over upload. His business will be very viable and profitable with Blast because he is getting exactly what he needs and is not lumped with so many other users whose data connection needs will ultimately conflict with his.

Educational development in Nigeria will also be boosted by Blast as more and more students and teachers have begun to adopt E-Learning. Blast’s unique service delivery features allows for real time, online knowledge impartation with no disruptions regardless of weather conditions. Blast also provides unlimited access to social networking sites like Facebook, Hi5, UTube, Twitter, Netlog, Appleseed and others thereby allowing the necessary exposure needed for the healthy development of mental and psychological faculties. All the applications designed to bring ease and comfort into people’s lives are also accessible. With Blast, you can do virtually any transaction online including shopping, funds transfer and selling. Of course, you have access to Internet Protocol facilities including voice and video. These are only some of the features of this amazing product.

Benefits attached to Blast are enormous. It ensures maximum bandwidth efficiency and allows for frequency re-use which allows for the deployment of more subscribers on the same frequency coupled with accelerated IP traffic which increases performance and throughput and all of these without the attached costs which means that subscribers pay less instead of more for excellent and high quality service.

Mr. Chima Onyekwere concluded; ‘We are very excited. We see ourselves breaking open new frontiers in Internet adoption in Nigeria and we are so proud to be a part of it. Blast is the future of Internet in Nigeria and as an organisation committed to bringing the Internet closer to every Nigerian, we are indeed glad to see our dream become a reality.’

Linkserve, since its inception in 1996, has been at the forefront of providing quality connection.
